Music Control for iTunes, Spotify, Rdio and Personalized Internet Radio App Reviews

I want to give this app 5 stars… really. I use it primarily for Pandora. - Often times the app is happily playing Pandora, and then it stops (I dont know if this is related to Pandoras "are you still listening" notification) and there is nothing that can be done to "restart" that station. Gotta quit the app, and restart. Perhaps it needs to better handle any Pandora control notifications? - By far, the worst thing that happens is that Pause/Play stops working. Then, on any given channel, pressing pause in the interface, or the keyboard, doesnt pause. Nothing happens. I spent the $5 specifically for this capability. Getting this to work is key for future use. Anyway, Marla/Jesse/Jeremy, is there a v1.2.3 or v1.3 around the corner, which has some much needed fixes? I hope so. Overall, I am ok with this app. But, for $5, I want to be astounded. Astound me.

Agree with the other reviewer. For 5 bucks this app should work a million times better. I used panadabar a loved it until they stopped working. So now this is my only choice. Having the play/pause function always stops working me is just not cool at all.

This app is extremely buggy. There was an issue with the volume resetting to the default on each new song. In this update they were supposed to fix it and they did only partially. Ive had the same bug happen to me for a couple of different songs now, but not every one. For the songs where things are "fixed" the song plays for probably half a second at default volume and then is changed to the volume set in the app. On my headphones that means blaring music for half a second and then back to normal volume. Ive had problems where the app would start playing even though the display showed it was still loading, and the controls were non-functional (play/pause, next, prev did nothing). The only thing I could do was quit the app and launch it again. Unfortunately youre probably better off just using a web browser.

Cool app, but still really buggy. Im really using this for Pandora, since the Pandora AIR app doesnt have keyboard support. When using this with Pandora, it stops working/crashes a lot.

I like this app but the killer downfall is that there is no support for airplay

PandaBar just used to work! then pandora stopped supporting that app, very unfortunate. this app always skips songs (consistently), and if i make the computer sleep and wake it back up, it will play for about a minute then stop (also consistently). Needs to be restarted constantly! seems more like a windows app then a mac app.

I kind of wish Pandora offered this for a lower price, but in reality I cant complain. It scrolls the name and artist of the song on the top menu bar so you always know what song youre listening to. Its silly, but you can just look rather than switch applications and get distracted. You can also relplace the app icon with the artists picture which is kind of cool, kind of tacky, but still cool. Overall - great app. Dont hesitate to download this one.

Edit* Thanks to a helpful person, I now know that Shift + Option + F8 will Play Pause Rdio and not control iTunes, so this is a good work around for now. Edit* With the new update, it seemed to break the one thing I wanted it to do. Now when I hit the Play/Pause hotkey, it switches between Rdio and iTunes. I was looking for an app that would solve the problem I was having of my Rdio starting up whenever I tried to pause my iTunes. This does that and more. I love the unified way it handles the media buttons. Ive been looking online for automator or applescript solutions, but this solves that problem perfectly. It even inspired me to get a Pandora account, just to feel good about having the ability to control it. Thanks a lot! One wish for the devs, though: Please improve the way search works. Maybe Im missing something, but I am having a bit of trouble finding songs in my iTunes library because I see so many options for Rdio. This seems to be especially for songs with a common keyword in the title. It would be nice to have the preference to list owned songs first or songs in collection for Rdio.

I have only had this app installed for a few hours now but so far I am loving it. The quick key option is great and works flawlessly. I was able to pair it to my pandora account with ease. I especially like how quickly I can pull up the app and like/dislike a song. I will be recommending this one to everyone I work with.

This app worked great for about a week and then started to experience major performance issues. I have a brand new IMac with 12 gb ram and a 20 gbps internet connection so it has nothing to do with computer or network, instead the program itself. half the time it wont work, then when it does work when playing pandora it will simply stop after ever song and I have to press pause then play to get it to start again. also my play/pause and skip keyboard buttons no longer work. basically good idea and very poorly executed.

Followed the instruction, but cant get it to work. Either need to make it simpler or better instructions.

The app takes forever to login to Pandora. Keeps stopping mid-song and between songs. Buggy and slow.

Buggy, very buggy. Almost unusable. Stops playing mid-song and between songs. You cant see half of the menu (or the settings button) because it hangs off the screen area unless you turn on the song info. Hard to explain, but trust me. Interface is not very good either. Play, pause, skip buttons do not work. It skips applications instead of songs, the play/pause button just skips apps as well. For $5 this is a joke. Dont waste your money.

Initially the app worked well. After a few weeks, the app no longer displayed cover art and the Preferences screen (where you quit the app) became blank. Reported the issue to Americo Trading but received no response after 3+ weeks. App is unusable. Buggy app and poor customer service

After a few weeks, I found it pretty buggy. After a few days, its memory footprint grows to 1.5Gb and lots of trouble getting it to play iTunes after sleep without quiting and restarting.

The hearting feature is a nice addition. Its expecially helpful when listening to Pandora and I want to remember a song for later.

It would be great, if only it didnt stop playback after listening to Pandora for a while. It should re-authenticate and continue playback on the same channel if Pandora logs you out, or it should just prevent you from being logged out.

Thats just a basic, must have feature that it does not have. It also take time to log you in to Pandora every time you start it. Ill stick with the Pandora app.

I dropped five bucks on this program only to be greeted with advertisements. What a slap in the face from the dev. Youre probably better off buying any of the other multi-purpose music controllers on the app store. Really upset I spent this money. DO NOT BUY if youre bothered by paying for ads and/or shady developer behavior.
